AUSIT
AUSIT is the Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators, the national professional association for the sector. It maintains the code of ethics and code of conduct that practitioners work to, covering accuracy, impartiality, confidentiality and professional conduct. It is distinct from NAATI: AUSIT is the professional body, NAATI is the certification authority.
How it works
AUSIT sets and maintains the profession's code of ethics and code of conduct, and supports practitioners through training, events and advocacy. The code covers accuracy, impartiality, confidentiality, clarity of role and professional conduct, the principles a translator or interpreter is expected to work by.
It sits alongside NAATI rather than overlapping it: NAATI tests and certifies competence, while AUSIT represents the profession and defines how its members should behave.
How SourceTarget uses it
SourceTarget's translators work in line with the AUSIT code of ethics, including its requirements on accuracy, impartiality and confidentiality, which matter especially for the sensitive government and health content the platform handles.
